INDIA'S EDUCATION-MENACE TO INDIA'S POSTERITY

Education is the key to success. Our success is at wager if these key is misplaced. All of us wants to get accomplishment in life.We also know it can be gained only by one thing. That’s education. Today’s competitive world has made the need for better education. However,in India, there is nothing called as better education. We can only say India provides education. We can’t say India provides better education. We do have better education. You can get it in IITs,IIMs, institutes like Jamnalal Bajaj. But to get admission there you need to be financially well-built.A common man is disadvantaged from such institutes  because of money power.

The main issue in our education is it is too far  from our industry requirements .Our industry needs something else and our education system provides something else. These variance needs to be cured for success of our posterity. Industry needs talented, sophisticated and a candidate who can do some innovative activity for them. Our education is not able to deliver this. No company would like to waste there money by hiring a candidate which will not be functional for the company. Because of these variance students today say there is no job in the market despite having qualifications. Only qualifications will not give the job. Students need to have something additional facet in them when they go in market after pursuing studies. Problem in our education system starts right from the school level.
Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009 was passed by Union Government of India.Though these act give the right of education to each and every children of the country,it has some provisions in it which has to be amended at the earliest. These act has a provision in it which states that no student can be held back and it is the teacher’s responsibility to bring the child up at par with peers of the same age.It says that no student can be failed from class 1 to class 8.Even if they are not performing well school should promote the students to bring them to the subsequent higher class. Because of these provision students don’t even bother to take the studies seriously. Same goes to some of the teachers. There are teachers who don’t give serious attention to students because they are been following approach that why to give attention to students because even if students  don’t perform in exams our system and education rules is going to pass them. This wrong approach of few of the teachers is causing  impairment to the students education and their career. This provision has lead to increase in number of students failing in class 9.In May 2012,Times of India & Hindustan Times discovered that there was increase in number of students failing in class 9.Parents and teachers blamed the rule of promoting  students till class 8 even if they don’t perform. Once they come to class 9 students are not able to cope up with the studies because they have not taken the studies seriously for 8 years and it becomes difficult to imbibe the burden of study. There also exists pressure on students of matriculation board exams which they have to give in the next year. These pressure makes them too intricate for them to ponder on studies. There has been continuous increase of students failing in class 9 due to this rule.It needs to be ceased from the act at the earliest.
RTE Act says that every private unaided school and government schools  except private minority schools must compulsory admit 25% of the student from disadvantaged and weaker economic sections of the society. The government has already  cleared that these rule should be executed by all the schools by March 2013.Incumbent HRD Minister M.Palam Raju has recently said that there will be no extension for this deadline. The act clearly says that fees of these 25% students will be reimbursed by government in the bank account of the schools directly. Now,in India, wherever there is government there are two things.Corruption and Delay. The act disregards any interest payment if the fees is delayed by government. Recently ,Mr.Rahul Bajaj,Chairman of Bajaj Industries, was asked in World Economic Forum held at Gurgaon  about his companies success while other big companies are facing corruption charges and indulging in continuous losses. He  candidly said that its  because his company don’t deal with government. Bajaj said his company had taken a conscious decision long time back to stay away from the government. His company resist to deal in power, coal, gas, telecom segments where government has its major say.I was absolutely vindicated from his statement. Now in RTE there is no proper provision about reimbursement of fees.If the government delays payment, then the schools will be forced to pay bribes to release their payment.Schools will then recover these bribe cost from the remaining non-quota students i.e 75% students  by raising there fees.If fees are raised it will bring a saddle on the parents who will be forced to pay higher fees in such a inflated economy. These will be totally unjustified to the parents. Also there is no one to administer whether school will seriously abide by 25% reservation rules for disadvantaged students.
Our education syllabus is too outdated. It do not counterpart with the international standards. For instance,in Law,there are so many outdated laws of 18th Century which needs to be amended so that it can be used proficiently in 21st century. In our curriculum,we have a rule wherein students need to submit assignments  for which they get marks. At school level, the topics given to students are absolutely justified. These rule was included in syllabus so that students must do be forced to think, plan and do something innovative. These is what our industry require.A candidate who can do something different and innovative. But the fact is students do it just for marks and most of the assignments are done by there parents. What did the student learne from this?Nothing.Parents need to understand these the assignments are for the benefit of students and it is not for marks. Parents should also encourage students to take part in other activites of schools which is not part of curriculum nut it will benefit him.At professional level courses, the topic is not at all justified. When I was pursuing Students Induction Programme (SIP) of Company Secretaries professional course,we got the assignment to prepare a project on Time Management.Other group got risk management, ego management and so on.Is this topics justified for a professional corporate law student? Today internet has provided all these projects tailor made. Its easily available. So no student cares to apply his mind on such projects. It doesn’t match our industry need at all.We have to understand that students today are quite matured to manage all these activites. Why can’t we give them projects on tax reforms, economic reforms, business policies etc.Students can atleast surf internet on these projects and gain fabulous knowledge.Even professors can judge them and rectify them so that it will be beneficial for students. These needs to be overhauled.
India needs a complete reform in education sector. There are many loopholes in our education system. Those who have not read Chetan Bhagat’s What Young Indian Wants  should read it.Especially Politics and Youth section in that book. For reform  there needs to be a panel constituting elite members like Chetan Bhagat,Suhel Seth,Amartya Sen,Aziz Premzi,Yogendra Yadav who know are more intellectuals in giving suggestions for proper reform than our politicians. These elites should submit their report to government.Panel on important reforms like education should not constitute our corrupt politicians. Speaking at IIT Mumbai,Amartya Sen very recently said that ‘for a country to be developed government should spent more on health and education”.This our Indian government resists. They spent more on VIPs security. He also said that “Bangladesh has more girls in schools than boys.In India situation is totally opposite”.It is difficult for imbibe me that a small country Bangladesh  which was created by India in 1971 is ahead of India in providing education to girls.Did the government listened to Amartya Sen’s speech at IIT,Mumbai. Its skeptical   whether  RTE Act 2009  will give right to every children or not. Even if RTE is amended,a transparent system needs to created wherein the recipient children gets his right.Indian Government has to understand that by giving affordable and better education we are creating a developed India.
